Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Tenzura cryptocurrency, mining, wallets, and more.

General Questions

Tenzura (TENZ) is a decentralized cryptocurrency that focuses on providing a fast, secure, and energy-efficient blockchain platform. It uses the KawPow algorithm which is ASIC-resistant, making it more accessible to GPU miners.

Tenzura aims to solve common blockchain issues like scalability, transaction speed, and excessive energy consumption, while maintaining a high level of security and decentralization.

Tenzura differs from Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies in several key ways:

  • Mining Algorithm: Tenzura uses KawPow, which is ASIC-resistant and optimized for GPUs, promoting decentralization
  • Transaction Speed: Tenzura processes transactions more quickly with a block time of approximately 60 seconds
  • Energy Efficiency: The KawPow algorithm is designed to be more energy-efficient than Bitcoin's SHA-256
  • Community Governance: Tenzura implements a community-driven governance model for protocol updates and changes
  • Smart Contract Support: Unlike Bitcoin, Tenzura supports advanced smart contract functionality

Tenzura has a maximum supply cap of 84 million TENZ. This fixed supply ensures that Tenzura remains a deflationary asset over time, similar to Bitcoin but with a larger total supply.

The distribution schedule is as follows:

  • Mining rewards: 80% (67.2 million TENZ)
  • Development fund: 10% (8.4 million TENZ)
  • Community initiatives: 5% (4.2 million TENZ)
  • Initial contributors: 5% (4.2 million TENZ)

Mining rewards follow a halving schedule approximately every 4 years, similar to Bitcoin.

Tenzura is available on several cryptocurrency exchanges. You can currently buy TENZ on:

  • ExchangeX (TENZ/BTC, TENZ/USDT pairs)
  • CryptoTrade (TENZ/BTC, TENZ/ETH, TENZ/USDT pairs)
  • AltMarket (TENZ/BTC pair)
  • DEX Protocol (TENZ/ETH pair)

We're continuously working to expand our exchange listings. For the most up-to-date list of exchanges, please visit our website's "Markets" section.

Yes, Tenzura is fully open source. The source code is available on GitHub at github.com/tenzura/tenzura-core.

Being open source means that anyone can inspect the code, suggest improvements, or contribute to the development of Tenzura. This transparency is crucial for building trust in the cryptocurrency community and ensuring the security and reliability of the network.

We welcome contributions from developers who want to improve Tenzura's codebase or build applications on top of the platform.

Wallet Questions

There are several wallet options available for storing your Tenzura:

  • Tenzura Core Wallet - The official desktop wallet available for Windows, macOS, and Linux
  • Tenzura Mobile Wallet - Official mobile wallet for Android and iOS
  • TenzPay - Lightweight web wallet
  • Hardware Wallet Support - Ledger support (via the Tenzura app)

We recommend using the Tenzura Core Wallet for the most secure and feature-complete experience, or a hardware wallet for cold storage of larger amounts.

Properly backing up your wallet is crucial for securing your funds. Here's how to back up different wallet types:

Tenzura Core Wallet

  1. Go to File > Backup Wallet
  2. Choose a secure location to save the wallet.dat file
  3. Consider encrypting this backup with a password
  4. Store multiple copies in different secure locations

Seed Phrase Backup

  1. Write down your 12 or 24-word recovery phrase
  2. Double-check the spelling and order of words
  3. Store physically in a secure, preferably fireproof location
  4. Never store your seed phrase digitally or take photos of it

Never share your private keys or recovery phrases with anyone. Legitimate team members will never ask for these details.

There is no minimum balance required to maintain a Tenzura wallet. However, when making transactions, you'll need to have enough TENZ to cover the transaction fee, which is typically very small (around 0.0001 TENZ per standard transaction).

If you forget your wallet password:

  • For wallets secured with a password but where you have access to your seed phrase/recovery words, you can restore your wallet using the seed phrase.
  • If you're using the Tenzura Core Wallet and have only set a password (without recording your seed phrase), and you forget this password, there is unfortunately no built-in recovery mechanism.

Always back up your wallet and store both your password and seed phrase securely in different locations. Without access to either your password or seed phrase, your funds may be permanently inaccessible.

Mining Questions

To start mining Tenzura, you'll need a computer with a compatible GPU (6GB+ VRAM recommended) and mining software. Here's a basic guide:

  1. Set up a Tenzura wallet to receive mining rewards
  2. Download mining software compatible with KawPow algorithm (T-Rex, TeamRedMiner, etc.)
  3. Choose between solo mining or joining a mining pool (pool mining recommended for most users)
  4. Configure your mining software with your wallet address and pool information
  5. Start mining and monitor your performance

For detailed instructions, please visit our Mining Guide page.

For effective Tenzura mining, you'll need:

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti or better / AMD RX 6700 XT or better (minimum 6GB VRAM, 8GB+ recommended)
  • CPU: Any modern multi-core processor
  • RAM: 8GB minimum, 16GB recommended
  • Storage: SSD with at least 10GB free space
  • Power Supply: Quality PSU with sufficient wattage for your GPU(s) plus 150W overhead
  • Operating System: Windows 10/11, Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+), or specialized mining OS like HiveOS
  • Internet Connection: Stable connection with at least 5 Mbps

ASIC miners are not effective for Tenzura as the KawPow algorithm is designed to be ASIC-resistant.

Mining profitability depends on several factors:

  • Your hardware's hashrate
  • Power costs in your region
  • Current TENZ market price
  • Network difficulty (which increases as more miners join)
  • Block rewards (currently 5,000 TENZ per block)

To calculate potential profitability, use our Mining Calculator. Generally, mining is more profitable in regions with lower electricity costs and when using energy-efficient GPUs.

Remember that cryptocurrency prices are volatile, and mining profitability can change quickly as market conditions evolve.

Transaction Questions

Tenzura transactions are generally very fast compared to many other cryptocurrencies:

  • Transactions appear in the mempool almost instantly
  • First confirmation typically occurs within 60 seconds (average block time)
  • Most services and exchanges require 6 confirmations for security, which takes approximately 6 minutes

Transaction times can vary based on network congestion and the fee you've set. Higher fees can help prioritize your transaction during busy periods.

Tenzura transaction fees are designed to be low and affordable. The standard transaction fee is approximately 0.0001 TENZ per typical transaction.

Fees may vary based on:

  • Transaction size (in bytes)
  • Network congestion
  • Priority level you select

The Tenzura Core Wallet allows you to adjust transaction fees manually. Higher fees can help ensure faster confirmation during periods of high network activity.

If your transaction is stuck as "unconfirmed" for an extended period, consider these solutions:

Wait a bit longer

During periods of network congestion, transactions with lower fees may take longer to confirm. If you're not in a hurry, the transaction will likely confirm eventually.

Replace-by-fee (RBF)

If your wallet supports RBF, you can resubmit the same transaction with a higher fee to help it confirm faster.

Check transaction status

Use the Tenzura blockchain explorer to check the status of your transaction by entering the transaction ID.

If your transaction remains stuck for more than 24 hours, consider seeking assistance in the Tenzura community Discord or forum.

Once a Tenzura transaction has been confirmed on the blockchain (has at least one confirmation), it cannot be reversed or cancelled. This is a fundamental property of blockchain technology that ensures security and immutability.

However, if your transaction is still unconfirmed (zero confirmations), you may have options:

  • Replace-by-fee (RBF): Some wallets allow you to replace an unconfirmed transaction with a conflicting one that pays a higher fee
  • Double-spend: Creating a conflicting transaction that spends the same inputs to your own address (note: this should only be used to recover your own stuck funds, not to defraud others)

Always double-check recipient addresses before sending transactions, as blockchain transactions are irreversible once confirmed.

Security Questions

The Tenzura network is designed with security as a top priority:

  • ASIC-resistant mining: The KawPow algorithm prevents mining centralization through specialized hardware
  • Decentralized node network: Many nodes around the world verify transactions and maintain the blockchain
  • Regular security audits: The Tenzura codebase undergoes regular security reviews and audits
  • Open-source development: The code is publicly available for review and scrutiny
  • Strong cryptography: Tenzura uses industry-standard cryptographic algorithms for securing transactions

While no system can claim to be 100% secure, Tenzura implements multiple layers of security to protect the network and user funds.

To best secure your Tenzura holdings:

Use hardware wallets for large amounts

Hardware wallets like Ledger are the most secure option as they keep your private keys offline.

Enable wallet encryption

Always encrypt your wallet with a strong password that you won't forget.

Create secure backups

Back up your wallet or seed phrase in multiple secure locations, preferably offline.

Use two-factor authentication (2FA)

Enable 2FA on any exchanges or services where you hold TENZ.

Be vigilant against phishing

Never click suspicious links or share your private keys/seed phrases with anyone.

The Tenzura blockchain itself has never been successfully hacked or compromised. The core protocol maintains a strong security record since its launch.

It's important to distinguish between:

  • Protocol security: The Tenzura blockchain and consensus mechanism have remained secure
  • Third-party services: Exchanges or services that handle TENZ may have experienced security incidents, but these are separate from the Tenzura protocol itself

The Tenzura development team is committed to maintaining the highest security standards and continuously monitoring for potential vulnerabilities.
